                                                                        A Short Play

Scene
(The camera focuses on Jonathan Strode’s son and his friend running down the quiet street of Alpine. They come across the abandoned Banjo house)

Tommy Strode- (staring at the house) what are we doing here are parents told us not to be around here.

Charlie Macomb- (with attitude) I just want to see this place before we go over your house.

Tommy Strode-(Tommy turns around towards Charlie) but Charlie were going to get in trouble besides do you know who lives there?
Charlie Macomb-(ignored) who?

Tommy Strode- (shaking Charlie’s shoulders) The Boogeyman!

Charlie Macomb- (pushes away Tommy) geez you’re a real pain! There’s no such thing.

Tommy Strode-(high pitched) it’s true. My daddy’s moms meet the Boogeyman once! With her two eyes
!
Charlie Macomb- (in sing song) ah baloney! There’s no Boogeyman and I’ll prove it.

(Charlie steps forward to the steps)

Tommy Strode- What are you doing?!

Charlie Macomb-(turning around) I’m going to prove to you that there is no Boogeyman so that you can stop whining like a little baby.

Tommy Strode-(waving his hands yelling) NO! NO DON’T DO THE BOOGEYMAN WILL GET YOU!!

(As Tommy says this he walks toward up the stairs and toward the door)

Charlie Macomb-(teasing and yelling) hey Tommy! Look! (Changes into creepy voice) I’M THE BOOGEYMAN!!! (Growls and roars)

Tommy Strode- (worried) please get down from there! Please!

(Charlie walks down the stairs and goes toward Tommy)

Charlie Macomb- see there’s no Boogeyman

(They walk away from the house. The camera focuses on a shadowy figure at the houses window then walks away)

  1. A timely Halloween scene! It's interesting that you assume your short play is being filmed. Do you think it could be produced on the stage? Would the audience be able to get the full effect just from the dialogue, or would there need to be scenery or special effects?
