Assignment 2 - Blog: African Music's Influence on Music of the United States and Latin America

I love music and I can appreciate any genre no matter what the type of music. I have to say that my most personal experience with music would be Gospel. The reason I choose Gospel is because it has a big influence in my life.
I am a Christian and my inspiration music is Gospel. I believe that we can all connect with different types of music in our own lives. In my personal experience a curtain type of music can be inspiring. So when I listen to Gospel music I connect with it. Most of the Gospel music is singing about the lord or connects somehow to church. This music helps me to meditate.
I would say that rock is probably my least favorite, if I had to choose. I do appreciate the influence of rock music. There are so many different types of rock, blue rock, folk rock, country rock, and jazz rock fusion. Rock is all different types of beats and rhythms, but when I think of Rock I think of loud, guitar, and head banging.
The other music group I choose is pop. Pop was deriving from Rock-N-Roll .The pop music is very electric, pop borrows other elements from other styles including urban, dance, rock, Latin, and Country. Pop has a catchy beat and is my second favorite.

  1. Your work is really good. It's personal and you aren' afraid to touch base with religion in your writing. I've looked over you bog before and like how you keep things to the point. Personally, I like rock, and there's, like you said, so many types of it. Admittedly, quite a few people think of head banging, screaming people with their pointer and pinky finger held up with all other digits bent towards the palm and held dow by the thumb, and shrilling guitars. For that reason, I like to stick with the old stuff like Lynard Skynard and stuff like that. Try looking at 92.1 Fm1, it's an oldies rock station if you want give it a try, though I can understand if you don't. Just out of curiosity, do you like country music?

  2. Excellent entry, and an excellent comment from Wes! Thanks to both of you. Austin, post a comment if you check out that radio station. I would love to hear what you thought! There are lots of types of Gospel music, too. What is your favorite?
