Assignment 2 - Blog: Dance Experiments

I think having to think about this assignment really threw me off. I can see where dancing to a curtain song or performance would have to be a passion. I would think dancers as someone who doesn’t have to think about their movements. They just move and all the dance moves just fall into place. I believe if you don’t like to move then any type of dance art would be difficult and you couldn’t connect. I tried to do this experiment and it’s a good think that I can laugh at myself. I think dancing is something that you do as a reaction to a beat, rhythm, or a tone. Music is something that we all can connect too. I think dancing is a little trickier.
I have two left feet, so dancing will never be my success. I do appreciate the dance exercise and I believe you have to be in tone with your body and its parts. However I did not want to keep moving. I had to quite before I hurt myself. I believe everyone can do their version of dance, but to be a performer you must be able to move specific body parts. I was not blessed in this area.
I loved the modern dance in this module. I love the new style off jazz in ballet and all the big costumes. I love how dance as involved, how every generation before now is living thru artist today and they all connect the dots down thru time. This allows new big and bright ideals for future dancers and audience. This experiment was fun, but maybe also a little dangerous for me. I will stick with drawling!!

  1. Thanks for having a sense of humor, Austin! Great descriptions here! This is such a great point: "I love how dance as [evolved], how every generation before now is living thru artist today and they all connect the dots down thru time. This allows new big and bright ideals for future dancers and audience." That is so well said and really applies to everything we try to study in this course. I really appreciate that.
