Assignment 2 - Blog: O'Keeffe's "Red, White, and Blue"

This was a very unique print. I think O’Keeffe evokes certain feelings through adding personal thought. She traveled all over the world and visited different places and each place inspired her in different elements of feelings. She loved the outdoors and nature. I love how she could take an artifact and paint it with adding her own simple touch. Like in the Cow’s Scull. This was so interesting to me. I often try to think about an artist and try to question what were they thinking or feeling when they painted their art. In O’Keeffe print it made me think about like and death. You had the white bleach scull of a dead cow and then you had the white flowers that represented life.  If I had ever found an artifact it would make me think of art. If I ever found anything of the sort after doing this course I would defiantly think about Georgia O’Keeffe painting.

  1. Great job. Some people debate whether we should want to know about artists or writers personally and let that affect our perceptions of their work, but it is so natural to be curious about who created something that gets our attention. I think you do a nice job connecting the artist O'Keeffe with her work.
