Assignment 6 - Discovery Blog

My most meaningful discovery in this study was when I learned about the Moliere satire and how even in the 1960’s there was humor. Moliere satire was a new form of art and he was a great master in comedy must I believe misunderstood. His influence was Western ligature and was known for great works like (The School of Wives) and (The Misanthrope).  Moliere was very much criticized for his work from moralist and they didn’t find his satire humorous and Don Juan was even banned from performance. I learned that even in Moliere time period new art was forming and people where very critical for the change. This is still an issue today, but I think that Moliere help make people more acceptable to different art and change. Art will always be a part of our world and will always evolve.  I think that great artist like Moliere help set the art of satire in stone.

  1. Austin, you make a really excellent point about art always evolving. There are also usually a few artists out in front, like Moliere, challenging the conventions, and they will often be criticized, fairly or not. I know you are working really hard and fast right now at the end of the semester and writing a lot of good entries! A quick proofread would really help polish some of these, to catch little typos and errors. Blogs are very immediate forms of communication, but they are also published pieces, so it's a great place to practice your editing skills.
